LISTEN TO THE MUSIC

Take your downloaded music on the road with you.

When your digital music collection has grown to suitable proportions you'll want to enjoy it on the road as well as on your computer.  This is easily done by burning an audio CD.  Launch Windows Media Player and click the Burn option.  Choose the type of disc to burn - audio CD is a good choice - and then click Edit Playlist and assemble the songs to burn.  Keep an eye on the Status column to make sure the selected songs are ready to burn and will fit on the disc.  When you're ready, place a blank CD into the drive and click Start Burn to burn the disc.  Voila!  A little traveling music.

MAKE A PHOTO SLIDESHOW

Organize your memories with Microsoft Photo Story 3.

Photo Story 3 enables you to create a slideshow of photos, complete with zooming and panning effects, music and narration.  Download a free copy of Photo Story 3 from here.  Launch the program and click Import Pictures to choose your photos.  Drag the photos on the program timeline to place them in the desired order, then use the editing options to crop a photo, fix the color and add fun effects.

Proceed to the next step to add a title for the slideshow, then add your own narration track explaining what the photos are about.  When you're done save your project and convert the slideshow design to a slideshow movie that can be emailed to friends or burned on to a VCD or DVD.

PROTECT YOUR WORK-PLEASE!

Back up your data to save it from computer crashes.

We meet too many people that have lost data that was valuable to them.  Trust us when we say: YOU WILL LOSE YOUR DATA.  Back it up and have it forever.  Don't back it up and lose it at any moment.

Make regular backups of your important files on CD to protect them against the eventuality of your computer crashing.  Open Windows Explorer, locate the files that you want to back up and hold down [Ctrl] while left-clicking on each file to select them; alternatively you can [Shift] and click to select a continuous group of files.  From the task pane, choose 'Copy the Selected Items' and then choose your writable CD drive.  Continue until you've selected all the files, then select the CD drive in My Computer and from the task pane, choose 'Write these files to CD' and burn them to a new disc.  A backup will then be made.

CREATE A HOUSEHOLD INVENTORY

Protect your possessions with a detailed inventory.

So you can adequately make a claim in the case of damage or loss, create an inventory of your possessions in Works Database.  Start the Works Task Launcher and choose Home & Money > Home Inventory Worksheets, and choose the Home Inventory template.  Enter details of one item into the form on the screen, then progress to the next item.  To make a printed list, choose View > Report and print the Category List.
