Create Fantastic Photos
Windows XP has
excellent support for graphics and digital photographs.
If you have a
digital camera you can simply connect it to your computer and let
Windows XP guide you through the process of copying your pictures on
to the computer’s hard drive.
It is a good idea
to store your photos and any other graphics in the My Pictures
folder because it also has some great tools. To get to you’re my
Pictures folder, choose My Pictures on you Start Menu.
- When you are
looking in you’re my Pictures folder, you will see options
displayed in the panel on the left-hand side of the screen. Try
the ‘View as a slide show’ option for a quick and easy way to
see all the pictures in the folder.
- Try the
‘Order prints online’ option to connect to the internet to order
prints of your pictures.
- Choose the
Print pictures option to be guided through printing your
pictures yourself.
- Click on the
Views button to try different ways of viewing your pictures.
The Filmstrip view is especially useful.
- If you have
lots of pictures, it’s a good idea to create some sub-folders
within you’re my Pictures folder. You can do this using the
‘File and Fold Tasks’ part of the blue panel at the left of the
window. Once you have moved your pictures into the appropriate
sub-folders, you will see previews of the pictures on the folder
icon to remind you of what is in the folder.
- To email a
picture to someone, click the picture, choose ‘E-mail this file’
from the panel on the left of the screen and follow the
instructions. Please note that with large pictures, Windows XP
will make the file size smaller to make it easier to send.
